Dr. Debbie Thompson, a clinical pharmacists who is being recognized for her work to reduce tobacco use among mental health and addictions acute patients and community clients, particularly to improve the recovery rate and health status of patients entering hospital for treatment. She has provided dozens of Nicotine Replacement Therapy sessions for FH staff, in addition to her regular schedule of pharmacotherapy consulting.
Debbie is always willing to share her expertise, whether it is through lecturing pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy students at UBC, proving experiential rotations, spending evenings at family support groups or responding to individual questions on Mental Health pharmacotherapy, Debbie goes above and beyond.
She travels throughout the FH network to provide case consultation, education and support in tobacco withdrawal management, particularly crucial and timely in light of the smoke-free policy introduced at FH last year. As a Tobacco Education Leader, she has been invaluable, and has an advocate for tobacco reduction among the mental health and addictions patient population, she has been outstanding.
