Eden Care Centre

All rooms at Eden Care Centre are located on one floor. The building is a large “C” shape divided into two wings and two enclosed courtyards. All resident rooms have been renovated to provide wheelchair access. Owned and operated by Fraser Valley Care Centre Management Ltd.

NONE.
Accreditation is an external peer review process to assess and improve the services health care organizations provide to their patients and clients, based on standards of excellence set by Accreditation Canada or the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

Philosophy of care

It is our mission to ensure excellence in the provision of service to the residents of Eden Care Centre. We are dedicated to ensuring and maintaining a resident-centered home respecting the dignity and worth of our residents, their family and friends. We recognize the uniqueness of each resident and support his or her independence and individuality. We enable and optimize our residents’ abilities by responding to the physical, psychosocial, emotional, spiritual and cultural needs. We respect the dignity and worth of each staff member, and attempt to create an atmosphere to support individual growth, facilitates open communication and promotes teamwork. 

We recognize the rights of individuals to direct their own care in a supported manner, including the right to refuse care. We recognize the uniqueness of each resident by supporting them in meeting their physical, emotional, psychosocial and spiritual needs, and enabling them to optimize their abilities and promote independence.

Type of accommodation

Total beds: 89; 89 publicly subsidized residential care beds.  

Basics include bed, dresser, bedside table, towels and linen 

You may also bring items to personalize your space such as furniture and pictures (six maximum). Personal TV and/or radio can be accommodated; family members can arrange for cable and telephone access. 

Items to bring include personal clothing, toiletries, personal hygiene items.  We discourage residents from keeping money in their rooms. The business office handles personal pocket money for small items from the residence general store/tuck shop.

Cost

Residents pay 80% of their after-tax income which covers the cost of food and accommodation.

Special recreation opportunities

Recreation and activity programming is available seven days a week.

Accessibility

We cannot accommodate motorized scooters or wheelchairs.

Pet policy

Our resident cat, Boots, has been here for many years, and is the “de facto” boss. We encourage family pets to visit and often have animals visit from the local pet store.

Smoking policy

Smoking is permitted outdoors in a covered and partially enclosed patio. A propane patio heater provides warmth in the cooler months.

Safety/security features

All exterior doors are alarmed and coded. Our two centre courtyards are fully enclosed to allow access to secure outdoor space. The front door and smoking (patio) area are video monitored.

Neighbourhood/community amenities

Nearby public transportation.  We have enjoyed a long mutually beneficial relationship with Chilliwack Middle School; the students have played an active role in the development of the residence garden.

Facility-specific restrictions

Provides 24-hour professional nursing services to people who are no longer able to stay at home safely.

Any other amenities

On-site beauty salon, on-site tuck shop, access to podiatry services, mobility program, physiotherapy, dental hygienist, mental health consultant.  Family Support Group meets every month.
