Freedom Place is a two-storey, low-rise wood frame building with twenty one-bedroom suites.  Owned and operated by Howe Sound Rehabilitation Services Society.

How do I access assisted living?

Access to subsidized assisted living units is through a Home Health assessment. For more information on subsidized units, contact the local Home Health office nearest you. Please do not contact the Operator directly regarding subsidized units.

Building amenities

Continental breakfast, hot lunch and dinner.  Afternoon and evening snacks.  Weekly housekeeping and linen service is available, including washing of linens and towels and a light cleaning in the suite.

Freedom Place is not affiliated with any specific cultural, ethnic, or religious group. Rather, we welcome cultural diversity, and invite everyone to add their own backgrounds and preferences to our rich mosaic.

Type of accommodation

20 publicly subsidized units.  Each unit has a fridge, stove top and microwave.

Cost

Residents pay 70% of their after-tax income which covers: 1) monthly rental accommodation; 2) hospitality services: two meals and two snacks daily, weekly housekeeping, flat laundry, etc.; 3) personal care; and 4) on-site emergency response system.

Residents on income assistance pay a flat rate.

Items not included as part of the monthly fee include: telephone, cable, hydro, personal laundry, household and toiletry supplies, medications, personal care products and insurance.

In-home contests, games, movie nights, fitness.

Accessibility

Residents must be able to move around in their own apartment with or without the use of mobility aids.  Scooters are stored in suites.

Pet policy

Pets are permitted; pet deposit required.

Smoking policy

Non-smoking building; a designated smoking area (gazebo) is available outside the building.

Safety/security features

Call buttons reach staff immediately. 24-hour emergency system.

Neighbourhood/community Amenities

Close to Guildford Mall.

Residence-specific restrictions

Offers hospitality and personal assistance services to young adults (aged 19 to 55 years of age) with physical disabilities.

There are eight on-site parking spots; additional on-street parking available.  At-cost telephone, cablevision, Internet services; hairdressing services.
