How do I access assisted living?

| Building amenities | Our professional chef prepares two meals daily (lunch and dinner). Two nutritious daily snacks are available in the Fireside Lounge. Weekly housekeeping and laundry service are provided. |
| Language, culture, religious Affiliations | Elim Village is a Christian village of care. All homes in Elim Village require residents to acknowledge an Elim statement of faith. Sunday morning worship services. |
| Type of accommodation | 53 publicly subsidized units. Each suite has easy-to-navigate hallways and washrooms ideal for wheelchairs or walkers. Bathrooms have grab-bars, textured faux wood laminate vinyl floors to prevent slippage, showers with seating and adjustable hand-held shower wands and raised toilets. Each suite includes European-style refrigerators, oven range and a washer/dryer. Residents provide their own furnishings. |
| Cost | Residents pay 70% of their after-tax income which covers: 1) monthly rental accommodation; 2) hospitality services: two meals and two snacks daily, weekly housekeeping, flat laundry, etc.; 3) personal care; and 4) on-site emergency response system. Residents on income assistance pay a flat rate. Items not included as part of the monthly fee include: telephone, cable, hydro, personal laundry, household and toiletry supplies, medications, personal care products and insurance. |
| Special recreation opportunities | With a full-time recreation coordinator, there are many social, recreational and wellness programs at the Elim. |
| Accessibility | Residents must be able to move around in their own apartment with or without the use of mobility aids. Electric wheelchairs designed for indoor use may be permitted with pre-approval of the Executive Director. Indoor scooters are allowed. There is parking for outdoor scooters located at the rear of the building. |

| Safety/security features | Our care staff is on duty 24-hours a day. Residents have the option of a two-way communication panel or personal safety pendant. All suites have pre-wired security systems. All at-grade suites come complete with a security system installed and monitored by Elim Village. All switches and plugs are mounted at a senior-friendly height. There is also a front desk reception during busy hours and we lock the doors when no one is at reception. Video monitoring and care staff available 24/7. |
