The Gateway is a four-storey 60-unit newly built residence. The main floor houses central and private dining rooms, a library, fireside lounge, hobby room, multi-purpose room, hair salon, secure indoor electric scooter parking and laundry facilities. The remaining floors each have activity rooms and coin-operated laundry services. Owned and operated by Daljit Gill.

How do I access assisted living?

Contact | Access to subsidized assisted living units is through a Home Health assessment. For more information on subsidized units, contact the local Home Health office nearest you. Please do not contact the Operator directly regarding subsidized units. For information on market units, please refer to the Seniors Housing Information Program (SHIP) directory. |
Building amenities | We serve three meals and afternoon snacks every day. Tray service to suites is available when appropriate. Weekly housekeeping services and laundering of linens are provided. |
Language, culture, religious affiliations | Community clergy provide Catholic communion once a week. |
Type of accommodation | 60 publicly subsidized units. All suites have their own private outdoor patios and ample windows for plenty of light. One-bedroom suites include a stove cook-top, microwave and refrigerator; studio suites include a microwave and refrigerator. Residents provide their own furnishings. |
Cost | Residents pay 70% of their after-tax income which covers: 1) monthly rental accommodation; 2) hospitality services: two meals and two snacks daily, weekly housekeeping, flat laundry, etc.; 3) personal care; and 4) on-site emergency response system. Residents on income assistance pay a flat rate. Items not included as part of the monthly fee include: telephone, cable, hydro, personal laundry, household and toiletry supplies, medications, personal care products and insurance. |
Special recreation opportunities | A full-time activity coordinator organizes daily socials, exercises, hobbies, special occasions and recreational activities. We schedule local entertainers monthly and many community volunteers provide a variety of enjoyment. |
Accessibility | Residents must be able to move around in their own apartment with or without the use of mobility aids. Electric wheelchairs designed for indoor use may be permitted with pre-approval of the Executive Director. Motorized scooters are not permitted in the suites or main areas of the building aside from being in the secure, indoor parking area. |
Pet policy | We cannot accommodate pets; however, well-behaved and supervised pets are welcome to visit. |
Smoking policy | The Gateway is a non-smoking residence; smoking is available in designated outdoor areas. |
Safety/security features | Each suite is equipped with an integrated emergency alert system, including a remote wireless pendant. The Gateway has monitored fire and security systems. |
Neighbourhood/community Amenities | The Gateway has many nearby amenities including shopping, banking, SkyTrain and restaurants. Community services the library, pharmacy and grocery delivery services, as well as regular podiatrist visits. |
Residence-specific restrictions | Offers hospitality and personal assistance to seniors and adults with disabilities. |
Any other amenities | Underground parking is available to residents with vehicles. Visitors may use the center parking lot in front of the building. |
