How do I access residential care?

| Contact | Access to subsidized residential care units is through a Home Health assessment. For more information on subsidized units, contact the Home Health office nearest you. Please do not contact the Operator directly regarding subsidized units. For information on market units, please refer to the Seniors Housing Information Program (SHIP) directory . |
| Building amenities | Telephone and cablevision access is available; arrangements to connect and maintain these services are the responsibility of the resident and their family. |
| Language, culture, religious affiliations | Many local churches offer services to meet the needs of our residents. An elementary school is nearby; students in kindergarten through grade seven perform plays and musicals for our residents. |

| Type of accommodation | Total beds: 88; 64 publicly subsidized residential care beds; 23-bed special care unit. All rooms are private with self-contained two-piece ensuite. Basics include bed, dresser, bedside table and chair. Residents are welcome to bring in their own dresser and favourite chair. Consideration must be given to the size of the room and amount of equipment the resident will use (e.g., walker/wheelchair). All towels, linens and comforters are provided. You may also bring pictures for the walls, plants and non-precious items. Residents are welcome to bring in their own comforter if family agrees to clean it when necessary. Items to bring include personal clothing, however, limited space is available; we request the resident and family bring in only those clothes the resident would wear on a daily basis. Personal hygiene items; however, bath salts and oils are not allowed in our tubs. Money for comforts. |
| Cost | Residents pay 80% of their after-tax income which covers the cost of food and accommodation. |
| Special recreation opportunities | Our recreation and activity programs are varied and designed to meet the needs of everyone, including residents in the special care unit. Shopping, luncheons and scenic drives. We have our own bus for resident outings. |

| Pet policy | Jackman Manor has an active pet therapy program and welcomes family pets with proof of immunization. All pets must be kept on leash; owners are responsible for cleanup required. View our pet policy for more information. |
| Smoking policy | Smoking is permitted in designated room and patio only. No smoking in the remainder of building. |
| Safety/security features | Jackman Manor is a secure building, monitored by video camera, with code locks on all exterior doors and into the special care unit. |
| Neighbourhood/community amenities | Jackman Manor is two blocks from Aldergrove’s main street; access to public transportation is located immediately off the property. Langley mall is located directly behind the building. |
| Facility-specific restrictions | Provides housing and care for seniors requiring 24-hour professional nursing care and support. |
| Any other amenities | Routine podiatry service, music therapy and physiotherapy; on-site beauty shop is accessible twice a week. A dentist is available on an emergency basis; annual check-ups are accommodated as requested by the resident or family. Special care unit on same site. |
