How do I access residential care?

Access to subsidized residential care units is through a Home Health assessment. For more information on subsidized units, contact the Home Health office nearest you. Please do not contact the Operator directly regarding subsidized units.

The residence is centrally located in Ladner and due to is smaller size, is able to maintain a family-like setting.

Our multi-cultural staff is able to converse in several languages.

Accreditation is an external peer review process to assess and improve the services health care organizations provide to their patients and clients, based on standards of excellence set by Accreditation Canada.

We are committed to creating a home-like atmosphere respecting the dignity and worth of residents, their families and friends. We support individuality, independence of residents, and provide for their physical, psychosocial, emotional, spiritual and cultural needs to assist them in achieving their full potential.
Type of accommodation
Total beds: 55; 55 publicly subsidized residential care beds.
Basics include a bed, dresser, bedside table, lamp, easy chair, linens and towels.
You may also bring TV, radio, telephone, easy chair and pictures.
Items to bring include washable clothing, personal hygiene supplies, walker or wheelchair (where required) and money for comforts fund.
Residents pay 80% of their after-tax income which covers the cost of food and accommodation.
Special recreation opportunities
West Shore offers a recreational and activity program, physiotherapy.
We are unable to accommodate any form of power mobility (scooter or power chair) at this time.
The building has a resident cat (Boots). Pet visitation program.
Smoking is allowed in a designated smoking room or in designated outdoor areas.
West Shore is door-alarmed for the protection of wandering residents. Enclosed, secured back yard.
A large shopping complex and Ladner’s town center are nearby.
Provides 24-hour professional nursing services to people who are no longer able to stay at home safely.
