Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
You could have Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), a chronic lung disease that too often goes undiagnosed. At greatest risk: smokers or ex-smokers over 40.
COPD is a serious lung disease that includes respiratory disorders such as chronic bronchitis and emphysema. About 92,000 people in BC, and 27,000 in Fraser Health are living with COPD. More than 10,000 new cases were reported last year in the province. But many people don’t know they have it until they experience an acute episode.
