Ways to pay your bill, including online payment.

Accepted methods of payment

  • Online payment:
    Payment with a credit or debit card via our online payment system. We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express payments.
  • e-Transfer is available to pay for hospital bills for services in hospital facilities (sample of hospital bill). 
    To pay your hospital bill through e-Transfer, please set up Fraser Health as a contact under the email address ARpayment@fraserhealth.ca and no password is required. Please include the full name of the patient and their hospital account number or BC Medical personal health number (PHN) in the message field of the e-Transfer. Note: This email address is for e-transfer payments only and does not accept or reply to general email inquiries.
  • e-Transfer is available to pay for Home Support and Lifeline services.
    To pay your Home Support or Lifeline services through e-Transfer, please set up Fraser Health as a contact under the email address HSpayments@fraserhealth.ca for Home Support and LLpayments@fraserhealth.ca for Lifeline and no password is required. Please include the full name of the client and their account number in the message field of the e-Transfer. Note: these email addresses are for e-transfer payments only and do not accept or reply to general inquiries. 
  • Cheque:
    Payment by cheque, payable to Fraser Health Authority, can be mailed directly to Accounts Receivable (Fraser Health Authority - Accounts Receivable P.O. Box 2348, New Westminster, BC V3L 5B6). Reference your account number on the cheque or enclose the stub from the statement.
  • By phone:
    Please refer to the contact phone number on your invoice to pay by credit card over the phone.
  • Cash or debit:
    Will be accepted at all hospital sites. See below for cashier hours. 
  • Pre-authorized payments:
    Pre-authorized payments may be arranged. Contact us to set up an account. You will be asked to reference your account number.
  • International wire transfers:
    Contact us for wire transfer payment information.

Online payment FAQs

  • Which invoices can I pay online?

    The following bill types are available to pay under the four categories of bill payments:

    1. Hospital bills which include:
      • Non-residents of Canada hospital fees, lab tests, x-rays, medication and other hospital services
      • Supplies (e.g. crutches, air boots)
      • Residential care home fees
      • Self-pay hospital fees (residents of Canada with no MSP coverage)
      • Preferred accommodation (private and semi-private rooms)
      • Enhanced hip / knee surgery
      • Lab tests not covered by MSP
      • Cosmetic surgery
      • Intraocular lenses
    2. Home support bills
      • Medical or domestic assistance in the home
    3. Lifeline
      • Emergency alert device and monitoring fees for the device
    4. Environmental health
      • Permit fees for restaurants, food trucks, public swimming pools or hot tubs
  • How do I know which bill type to select on the ‘Pay Your Bill Online’ page?

    Please go to the Pay Your Bill Online page for examples of bill types and sample invoices for guidance on which bill type to choose.

  • What if the bill type I require is not listed?

    This means the bill type is not available for payment online at this time, so you can pay by using another payment method. You can find other payment methods listed above. Currently, the following bill types are available to pay online: Home Support, Hospital, Lifeline and Environmental Health.

  • What if I select the wrong bill type option?

    Go back to the Pay Your Bill Online page and this will take you to the list of the four bill types: Home Support, Hospital, Lifeline and Environmental Health.

  • How do I get back to the previous page when I click on a link that takes me to bill/invoice samples on the payment pages?

    Close your browser window, as the PDF opens in a new browser window. This can be done by clicking on the “x” on the PDF file in the top right hand corner of the web browser to close the document.

  • How do I return to the online payment website when I click on the “Fraser Health Privacy Policy” link?

    Close your browser window, as a new browser window opens. Click on the “x” in the top right hand corner of the web browser to close that page.

  • What if I do not have an email address and require a receipt?

    An email address is not mandatory. You will have the option to print your receipt once your payment has been processed.

  • How can I check whether my credit card or debit card transaction has been processed correctly?

    Please contact your credit card company for confirmation or check your credit card or bank statement. If the transaction has been declined, a message will appear indicating that the payment has failed, and you will be given the option to try again.

  • What if I decide not to pay by credit card or debit card?

    You can pay by using another payment method listed above. If you have been re-directed to the Moneris website, select the Visa/Master card or Interac option, and the “Process Transaction” and “Cancel Transaction” buttons will appear. Click on the “Cancel Transaction” button to cancel.

  • Who do I contact if I have a question about the charges on my invoice?

    Please refer to the contact phone number on your invoice.

  • Who do I contact if I am having technical difficulties?

    Please try to use the online payment system to pay your bill again later. You can also pay your bill by using another payment method listed above. Or contact feedback@fraserhealth.ca.

  • I have received a bill for private or semi-room accommodation but I have extended health benefits coverage.

    Please note, supply or miscellaneous charges include but are not limited to – crutches, casts, splints, etc. and are not covered by provincial health coverages. Supply items are billable to the patient. We do not direct bill extended health benefit plans.

  • How do I obtain the medical records from my visit?

  • I have lost my hospital bill. How do I get a copy of the hospital bill?

  • I am visitor to Canada and received a hospital bill but I have travel insurance. What do I do?

    All hospital charges are patient responsibility and due upon service rendered.

  • I received a hospital bill but I have a Canadian work and/or study permit. What do I do?

    All hospital charges are patient responsibility and due upon service rendered.

    Please provide a copy of your Canadian work and/or study permit upon registration.

    If you hold a valid work and/or study permit that is longer than 6 months plus 1 day, you may be eligible for Medical Services Plan (MSP) for British Columbia. For more details and eligibility, please visit the Medical Services Plan page.

  • I made a payment at the hospital but I have received a hospital bill for additional charges. 

    By receiving care at our hospitals (i.e. Emergency Department), you may receive two or more bills. The initial payment is for the Emergency Room Fee (Hospital) and Emergency Room Physicians Fee (Doctor). Any tests and/or procedures will be billed separately for your visit.

    Physicians' bills are issued by their own offices. Any questions or payments should be directed to the billing address shown on their statement.

Credit card safety

We do not store your credit card information. We follow the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council guidelines regarding the handling of credit card information.

Unpaid bills

Contact us immediately to discuss payment options.

After considerable time has passed beyond the due date, unsettled accounts are sent to a collection agency. If you feel your bill should be paid by a third party or other provincial plan, contact us as soon as possible.

Note that we are unable to obtain payment from the provincial plan or third party. You are still responsible for settling the debt. You should make payment as soon as possible so that your credit record is unaffected.
