Most family physician offices and walk-in clinics in Fraser Health provide opportunities for HIV and sexually transmitted infection testing. The Lighthouse Center - Positive Living Fraser Valley Lighthouse Center in Abbotsford operates a drop in center offering a support group and leisure activities for HIV positive individuals and their families. Counselors are available to speak with on site or by outreach. 604.556.6228 HIV/AIDS & Hepatitis C Outreach Program:Promotes the well being of HIV positive Aboriginal people. The program provides harm reduction and prevention education to clients with HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C. An outreach worker is available for counseling, support and some transportation. The care incorporates appropriate traditional Aboriginal treatment, provides cultural support to clients and offers referrals to other agencies. Kla-how-eya Aboriginal Centre of SACS Confidential support services and social opportunities for HIV/AIDS infected/affected children and families throughout B.C. 604.515.6086 UMOJA – Health Education & Family Resource Centre Mandate is to reduce the spread of HIV infection and enhance the quality of life of people of African descent living with HIV/AIDS in the Lower Mainland through education, care and support services. Lower Mainland Purpose Society Available to all residents of Fraser Health is the HIV/AIDS support services offering meals, social events, complimentary therapies, internet access, showers and use of laundry facilities. The Lower Mainland Purpose Society for Youth and Families South Fraser Community Services (SFCSS) Provides outreach and offers drop in services to marginalized youth and adults who are often homeless. The Front Room provides a 24 hour drop in for those who require housing in addition to community referrals. Some of the services include a drop in center, evening meal, showers and laundry facilities. Additionally, Gateway shelter operates a shelter from November 1 to March 31, annually. 10667 & 10697 - 135A Street Surrey, B.C. Fraser Valley Connection serves youth in communities from Mission to Boston Bar . A needle exchange is available which also provides advocacy, counseling, support services, and transportation. The HIV/AIDS Support Program offers counseling, information and referrals, a buddy system for HIV Positive people, and some assistance with basic needs.
