This computer-based training replaces the in-class PARIS Fundamentals for Students/Faculty Instructors, which was required for students in 1 to 1 placements.
This is a follow-up bulletin to the PARIS update sent on July 26, 2018.
The Student Practice Team is pleased to announce that the new PARIS Online Training modules are now live in the LearningHub. This computer-based training replaces the in-class PARIS Fundamentals for Students/Faculty Instructors, which was required for students in 1 to 1 placements.
Student and faculty instructors who require “write” access to PARIS must successfully complete the following modules, depending on their placement type:
|Placement Type||Target Audience||Required Online Training||Required Post-Training Assessment|
|1 to 1 Placement||Students in 1 to 1 Placements*||FH PARIS – Online Training – Write Access (Clinicians/Practicum Placement Students)||FH PARIS – Skills Assessment|
|FH PARIS – Online Training – Write Access (Student Clinicians)
*Once the curriculum has been completed, students in 1 to 1 placements must also successfully pass a hands-on Skills Assessment in order to gain “write” access. This 2-hour Skills Assessment will be offered via Skype or in-class and is available in the LearningHub. Students and faculty instructors can only access this Skype session from a Fraser Health computer when they are on a Fraser Health site.
Why is this important?
Documentation in PARIS using the correct tools and resources can optimize students’ and faculty instructors’ placement experiences. This is also important for ensuring that our patients continue to receive quality health care.
How will this impact students and faculty instructors?
All students and faculty instructors must complete the training requirements outlined above a minimum of three weeks prior to the placement start date to receive “write" access to the system. Students and faculty instructors can register for these courses via the LearningHub using their post-secondary institution-based email address.
Please note that as per our Student Practice Education Policy, students and faculty instructors who are employees of Fraser Health must use their students and faculty instructor PARIS accounts, respectively, to chart during their placements.
