A good place to start

The term “substance use” is used here to refer to the consumption of alcohol or any other mood altering legal or illegal drug. Substance use can be a concern when it in some way harms:
- Physical or mental health
- Functioning at work or school
- A persons’ capacity to contribute to his or her community
- Spiritual well being
A person may not be fully aware of the harms that are occurring and it can be helpful to have a conversation with a professional who will support an open and respectful exploration of how substance use might be affecting the well-being of an individual or family.
