Nicola Lodge has 212 publicly subsidized long-term care beds and 18 private pay.

Features

Room features Rooms have their own washroom and are outfitted with a mechanical bed, dresser, wardrobe and side table. There is also a neighbourhood for young adults with a washroom. Bed and bath linens are provided.

Residents are encouraged to personalize their room with pictures, decorations, special ornaments and personal mementos. They may bring in their own television, computer, radio, phone and a recliner or lift chair. Rugs or carpets, rocking chairs, personal fridges and other large furniture items are not permitted.

In-room television, telephone and Wi-Fi.
Accessibility Fully wheelchair accessible. Resident rooms are outfitted with ceiling tracks to accommodate ceiling lifts if required. Showers and baths can also be accessed via mechanical or ceiling lift.
Security Keypad or key card entrance to the building and unit/neighbourhood.
Smoking This is a non-smoking care community.
Parking and transportation Free parking is available onsite. Street parking available North and West of the building.
Additional site features Common area lounge has Wi-Fi, television, telephone and onsite supplement food services such as a Bistro.

Volunteer services and interpreters and translation services available.

Programs

Social and recreation programs  Our therapeutic recreation department offers a variety of social engagements such as gentlemen’s club, evening happy hour, coffee corner, special events and weekly bus outings in the community. In addition, we offer a wide range of emotional, cognitive and physical programs including music therapy, morning exercise, yoga, gardening and much more within our local community.
Spiritual program At Nicola Lodge, we facilitate regular hymn sing programs and our church service program is facilitated by local community church volunteers. A variety of inclusive religious services are offered reflecting the cultural needs of residents and respecting freedom of choice.

Personalized communion visits are available upon request. We also have volunteers who provide spiritual services in Mandarin and Cantonese.
Pets Our volunteer therapy dogs visit with residents throughout the week. The dogs are trained from friends and pets from the St. John's Ambulance pet therapy program.

Hairdressing  Hair salon or barber by appointment with associated fee.
Foot and nail care Foot care services and nail services available by appointment with associated fee.
Additional services For an additional fee, there is mobile dentist, hearing aid services, optometry services, walker and wheelchair tune-up services, companion services, physiotherapy and occupational therapy available.

Gift/tuck shop and social worker also available onsite.
