William Rudd House’s vision for long-term care is a caring place to live … a great place to work. To support, honour and celebrate the wisdom and diversity of our residents and clients in a person-focused, caring environment.

A multicultural home, we strive to be on the leading edge of new programs and services for residents.

There are 12 publicly subsidized long-term beds in our multicultural care community. All our rooms are private, each with their own bathroom and patio. Standard facility visiting hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. unless otherwise posted.

All our food is prepared onsite in our fresh food kitchen.

Features

Room features

Basics include an electric bed, a small bedside table, an armoire for personal clothing and all required linens.

Residents can bring a radio or tape deck with earphones, clock, bed throws or blankets, small pictures, plants and special mementos to help make the resident feel at home. Televisions (used with earphones) may be brought in provided it fits the space and layout. Televisions must be CSA approved and checked for safety by the maintenance staff prior to installation.

William Rudd House is a single-storey residence that is easily accessible.

Security

Our building is monitored by Paladin Security. Resident rooms and bathrooms are equipped with emergency call bells.

Smoking gazebo located in the back garden area.

Parking and transportation

There is onsite paid parking next to the building with public transit nearby.

Additional site features

We have a small gift shop located nearby in the lobby of Queen’s Park Care Centre.

We have a spacious shared living room with computer access and spaces available for small family gatherings. Wi-Fi is available in the common areas.

Shopping amenities and restaurants are a short bus or taxi ride away.

Programs

Social and recreation programs 

We have limited recreational programs and weekly bus outings.

Additional recreation programs are available next door at Queen’s Park Care Centre.

Spiritual program

A spiritual health coordinator is available to provide person-centred spiritual care, counselling and emotional support to residents and family members.

Pets

Visiting pets are welcome but must be on a leash and supervised by their owners at all times. Pet Policy is in place.

Hairdressing 

Hair salon or barber available at Queen’s Park Care Centre with an associated fee.  

Foot and nail care

Foot care services are available at Queen’s Park Care Centre with associated fee.

Additional services

Cable television is available for a monthly fee.

There are full time social work, physiotherapist and occupational therapist onsite. In addition, we have a dental hygienist to assess and provide oral care as needed.
