Menno Home has a legacy of compassionate care from its beginning in 1953. Our vision is to be a global leader in geriatric services by providing quality care and quality of life in a compassionate Christian environment. Our mission is to provide a home and services that express our commitment to excellent care and enable residents to live with hope and dignity.

We accomplish our mission through dedicated and compassionate staff, interdisciplinary teams, vibrant volunteers, engagement with residents and family, visionary leadership, exceptional extra events, supportive pastoral care team and our Life Enrichment Program.

Located on an 11.5 acre campus-of-care, Menno Place supports spouses living in separate levels of care. Palliative care and pastoral care have a special emphasis. With a Life Enrichment Coordinator, there is an added level of caregiver support as residents and loved ones navigate the transition to long-term care. 22 special care beds for dementia.

Menno Home has 196 publicly subsidized long-term care beds consisting of 186 single occupancy and five double occupancy rooms.

Features

Room features Basics include an electric bed, a bedside table and dresser and all required linens. Each room has a closet, toilet and sink.

Residents may bring a television and additional furniture such as a small chair, chest of drawers, lamp, computer and plants. Pictures and wall hangings are encouraged. High-definition television and Wi-Fi are available.
Accessibility Menno Home is completely wheelchair accessible. Basic wheelchairs are provided free of charge. Residents are responsible to purchase custom-fit wheelchairs/walkers if required.
Security Lighted grounds, lighted parking lot, coded security on all exterior doors, voice call bells at beside and bathrooms, special care unit, “wandering” alert system, exterior video surveillance, night security, full fire detection and suppression system throughout the building, secure courtyard and walking loop.
Smoking This is a non-smoking care community however a covered outdoor space is provided for resident’s use.
Parking and transportation Parking is available on site. Public transit nearby.
Additional site features Menno Home has 196 suites and is located on an 11.5 acre campus of care which includes Menno Hospital with 151 long-term care residents; Terrace East – 96 Assisted Living suites; The Apartments – 220 Independent Living suites.

Programs

Social and recreation programs  Social, recreation and activity programs are provided seven-days-a-week. Residents enjoy bus trips, live music in the courtyard, Concerts in Care, chapel services including an annual classic car show. The annual Butterfly Release, Remembrance Day service and Grandparent’s Day Fair are highlights. Concert in Care is a monthly concert provided by professional musicians. Recreation includes java music therapy, walking program, two duet bikes and regular bus outings.
Spiritual program Since 1953, Menno Home has been operated by the Mennonite Benevolent Society, a Christian organization that values peace, service and compassionate care for others. Menno Home embraces diversity. We value: service, excellence, respect, values-driven, innovation, compassion and encouragement.

Chaplains, spiritual support, interdenominational worship, chapel services and hymn sing are available for all who choose to take part. The Chapel seats 75 people and features a piano, media equipment and a stage.

Our palliative care approach recognizes the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of each resident. The passing quilt provides a tangible gesture of care that honors a resident’s passing and helps loved ones in their time of mourning.
Pets A cat and birds reside permanently at Menno Home. Many community guests bring their pets for regular visits. Volunteer pet therapists visit on a regular basis, bringing dogs, miniature horses, reptiles, birds and cats.
