Access a health care provider to receive ongoing medical care and/or timely care for urgent, non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries at a Fraser Health Urgent and Primary Care Centre.
What is an Urgent and Primary Care Centre?
An Urgent and Primary Care Centre (UPCC) is a medical facility that:
- Provides care for non-life-threatening medical concerns when you are unable to see your family practitioner or access a walk-in clinic in a timely manner.
- Assesses your on-going health care needs and helps connect you with the appropriate services, at the UPCC or in the community.
Our care teams
Centre care teams may include:
- Family physicians
- Nurse practitioners
- Clinical pharmacists
- Social workers
- Clinical counsellors
A member of our team will work with you in addressing your care needs.
All patients are assessed on arrival and are seen based on urgency of care required.
Examples of when to visit a UPCC for urgent care include:
- Cuts, wounds or skin conditions
- New or worsening pain
- Mental health issues such as low mood, anxiety or depression
- Nausea, diarrhea and constipation
- Sprains and strains
For life-threatening illnesses or injuries, call 911 or go the Emergency Department to be assessed and treated immediately. This includes suspected stroke or heart attack, poisoning or overdose, major trauma, head injury with loss of consciousness, etc.
UPCCs do not have these services on-site:
- Medical imaging, including x-ray, ultrasound or CT scanning
- Laboratory services
A UPCC is not intended to replace family doctors or care providers as a person's first point of contact for health concerns, nor will it replace Emergency Departments for life-threatening illnesses or injuries.

If you do not understand or speak English well enough to have medical conversations, we can get you a medical interpreter in your language. The medical interpreter will help you communicate with your health care team. The interpreter will join by phone or video, if video is available. Please note, this might take time. This is a free service.
For informal conversations, such as booking appointments, a family member or friend can help you explain what you need to your health care team.
