Provide assessment and treatment of incontinence for adults by a nurse continence advisor and a continence physiotherapist.
Provide services to improve the adults and older adults with urinary and fecal incontinence or stop leaking completely.
More than one million Canadians, and 40 per cent of the elderly population, suffer from incontinence. Incontinence is the involuntary loss of urine or stool. It is not a normal part of aging and can have a significant impact on a person's life. The good news is that incontinence can be cured or managed. Fraser Health offers a Continence Promotion and Management Program, in which seniors can meet with a nurse continence advisor for assessment and treatment.
This program is appropriate for post-partum women, peri- and post- menopausal women, post-urological surgical (e.g. bladder suspensions, prostate surgery) patients, and seniors. Nurses are available to health care facilities and the community for consultation, and will provide educational presentations to health care professionals and the public as time permits.
Must be aged 17 or older.
A referral is required for this service.
