Provides trauma-informed medical and forensic care to individuals who have experienced intentional person-to-person violence.

Provides urgent, compassionate, and culturally sensitive treatment by a trained professional nurse examiner.

Types of violence addressed include:

  • Sexual assault
  • Child abuse, assault, and neglect
  • Domestic violence
  • Intimate partner violence, and
  • Human trafficking and exploitation

Care includes a review of health/medical concerns and needs, the offer of a comprehensive forensic evaluation, witness testimony in court, and referrals to follow-up care.

Eligibility

Must consent for care. Incident must have occurred within 7 days.

Referral

Physician's referral is not required. Present to Emergency Room at hospital for immediate referral to nurse examiner following triage assessment.
