Geriatric Emergency Room (ER) nurses have specialized skills and knowledge to treat seniors experiencing a sudden health change, have a number of medical problems at one time and are at risk of losing the ability to function independently.
Geriatric ER nurses provide care to seniors presenting to specific acute care site emergency departments, work to identify community supports and resources, and schedule follow-up care with a health professional.
