Provides acute care to admitted patients requiring secondary and/or tertiary surgical interventions.
Services may include:
- cardiac surgery
- ear/nose/throat surgery
- gynaecological/urological surgery
- maxillofacial surgery
- neurosurgery
- ophthalmic surgery
- orthopaedic surgery
- plastic surgery
- vascular/thoracic surgery
Nurses also provide specialized care to patients immediately following surgery. Vital signs, pain management, and wound care are monitored during recovery from anaesthetic.
Note that not all acute sites may be equipped to offer all services.
