Our lipid clinic offers multi-disciplinary care to help patients referred by their doctors manage their cholesterol, triglycerides and other cardiac disease risk factors.

What is the lipid clinic?

The clinic has a multidisciplinary team that helps patients manage cholesterol, triglycerides and other cardiac disease risk factors. A physician referral is required. The following services are provided:

  • Assessment of your current and future risk of a cardiovascular event
  • Education about family history, lifestyle, exercise, nutrition and smoking cessation

How will I be notified of my appointment?

The clinic will notify your referring doctor of your lipid clinic appointment and nutrition class appointment. Please note that the waiting time is approximately 9-12 months to see the clinic cardiologist. Registration for the Risk Reduction Group education class has a wait time of four to eight weeks.

How do I prepare for my appointment?

Before your appointment, you will be sent forms and a laboratory requisition so you can go to check your fasting lipids levels before your clinic appointment. Please follow the instructions in this material. Also remember to bring your BC Care Card.
