Provides intensive treatment, support and symptom management for adults needing longer term psychiatric support and treatment.

Individuals are provided with support to manage their mental health condition and work on developing skills and return or move into more independent settings. The goal is to support individuals to manage the mental health symptoms and their lives as independently as possible. 

The average length of stay is two to four months.

Referral

Access to these services are generally through a hospital setting or a health care professional.

In some cases a family doctor may be able to refer an individual to some tertiary programs.
