Eagle Ridge Hospital registration clerk, Shahla Ram

This event went better than expected, with the emergency and support services going live shortly before 5 a.m.

On April 15, Eagle Ridge Hospital made a significant step toward innovating the future of care, as the first site in Fraser Health to launch a new electronic health record called MEDITECH Expanse.

With all hands on deck, the emergency department and support services (including lab, medical imaging, pharmacy, food and nutrition services) were the first units to Go-Live shortly before the anticipated 5 a.m. switch, as the staff in the emergency department were eager to get going after months of preparation. The remaining units went live at 7 a.m. This much-anticipated event was a success. The transition was smooth and is proceeding better than expected.

Seen above is Eagle Ridge Hospital registration clerk, Shahla Ram, the very first person to log in to the live environment of MEDITECH Expanse, while registering a patient in the Emergency Department.

To assist staff and medical staff through this digital transformation, experts are on site providing at-the-elbow support, fielding questions, and ensuring everyone at Eagle Ridge Hospital can continue to confidently provide high-quality, safe patient care as they learn the new system.

Congratulations to every single person involved in facilitating and supporting this important next step into the future of care.
