Fraser Health and Interior Health are coordinating the evacuation of long-term care residents and assisted living tenants from Fischer Place, Mill Site Lodge and Carefree Manor in 100 Mile House.

As a result of wildfire activity, Fraser Health and Interior Health are coordinating the evacuation of long-term care residents and assisted living tenants from Fischer Place, Mill Site Lodge and Carefree Manor in 100 Mile House.

The residents and tenants will begin arriving this evening and will be temporarily housed at long-term care and assisted living homes in: Surrey, Coquitlam, Burnaby, and Abbotsford.

We’re working in partnership with the long-term care and assisted living operators, to ensure continuity of care for current residents and tenants and those arriving beginning today. We know it’s an extremely difficult time for people affected by wildfires across B.C., and we’re ensuring the transition is as smooth and comfortable as possible.

All appropriate COVID-19 safety protocols will be followed during the transfer and accommodation of the residents and tenants.

We will work closely with provincial emergency management services and Interior Health over the coming weeks to determine when residents can safely return to their homes in 100 Mile House.

Communities in the Fraser Health region and across the province are hosting people forced from their homes due to wildfires. We would like to thank everyone for their kindness; including the staff, medical staff, volunteers, and long-term care and assisted living operators who are making the evacuation of residents and tenants as seamless as possible.
