X-ray services are in the Medical Imaging department on the main floor. Follow signs for Medical Imaging from the main entrance.

X-ray appointments

Available Monday to Friday, 7:15 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. Available weekends, 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Appointments are not available on statutory holidays.

X-rays may be available for walk-in based on capacity. Appointments are recommended to help reduce your wait time.

There are 2 ways to book an X-ray appointment:

1. Call us at 604-463-1800. Bring your requisition form to your appointment.

2. Your health care provider can fax us your requisition form. In this case, your provider will contact you with your appointment date and time.

Parking and Transportation

*If you have difficulty paying for parking, financial hardship permits may be available on a case-by-case basis. Please talk to your unit social worker for more information.

Please note: there is a 30-day permit option available at the pay station which requires a coupon code. Contact Parking Administration office at 604-930-5440 (Monday-Friday 8am-3:30pm) to request a coupon code and additional information.

Hours of operation

Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for patients staying in the hospital and emergencies.

Eligibility

Most people can have X-ray exams, including newborns, when deemed necessary by a health care provider.

Let your referring health care provider, X-ray technologist or radiologist know if there is any possibility that you are pregnant. Precautions are taken to limit radiation exposure to the fetus. Lead shielding is no longer needed for today’s X-ray machines.

Language (s) Offered

If you do not understand or speak English well enough to have medical conversations, an interpreter can be requested at the time the appointment is booked. The interpreter will join by phone or video, if video is available. Please note, this might take time. This is a free service.
