Important notice - FLUAD influenza vaccine October 24, 2022

The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) has provided guidance should FLUAD® be unavailable for patient’s 65 years and older living in the community, FLUZONE® Quadrivalent influenza vaccine should be provided.

Please continue to place FLUAD® vaccine orders through the online vaccine order request form. If FLUAD® is available it will be provided for the order; if not available you will receive FLUZONE® Quadrivalent.

If you receive FLUZONE® Quadrivalent in place of FLUAD®, it is to be provided to clients indicated for FLUAD®, those 65 years and older living in the community.

BCCDC has provided the following guidance on the use of FLUZONE® Quadrivalent if FLUAD® is unavailable. “In the event that FLUAD® is not available locally such as could occur later in the season, FLUZONE® Quadrivalent will be available for use and should be offered instead of recommending that individuals wait for FLUAD® supply or travel to receive FLUAD®. Those 65 years of age and older who receive a standard formulation influenza vaccine within the season are not advised to receive a subsequent dose of enhanced influenza vaccine within the same season.”
