Maxxine Wright Community Health Centre provides comprehensive health support services for women impacted by substance use and/or violence/abuse in partnership with Atira Women's Resource Society and the Ministry of Children and Family Development.

  • Pre- and post-natal care

  • Primary health care for women and their children
  • Counselling for women and children
  • Immunizations
  • Daily hot lunch program
  • Dental hygiene and dental referral services
  • Assistance with housing, income assistance and forms
  • Connections to a cultural advisor to support cultural practices
  • Assessments and treatments for sexually transmitted infections
  • Chiropractor services

Eligibility

To be eligible for services, women must be:

  • Pregnant or have a child aged six months or younger (to receive support, women need to have an ongoing relationship with the child but do not need to have the child in their care).
  • Impacted by substance use and/or violence and/or trauma.

There are no geographical intake restrictions. Any women who meet the criteria above and live in the region served by Fraser Health are eligible for services. Women and children are attached to the centre until the youngest child goes to school.
