Planning a trip this summer? Know before you go.

Check for current road conditions and travel advisories before heading out.

Measles infections have happened in many places across Canada and North America. Measles vaccination is highly protective against the disease.

  • Before you travel, check out what vaccines and medications are recommended and make sure everyone’s immunizations are up to date.
  • Find a community pharmacy offering the vaccines here.
  • Call to book an appointment at a Public Health Unit.
    • Telephone booking is available Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    • 604-702-4906 for residents of Mission, Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Agassiz and Hope.
    • 604-476-7087 for all other areas in Fraser Health.

Protect yourself from rabies exposures when travelling:

  • Be aware of the risk of rabies in areas where you travel.
  • Keep away from sick or dead animals.
  • Closely supervise children around animals.
  • Don’t touch or feed unknown, stray or wild animals.
  • If you travel to a place where there is increased risk of contact with potentially rabid animals, consider getting pre-exposure vaccination before travelling.

If an animal exposure occurs:

  • Any bite, scratch, or contact with a bat should be taken seriously.
  • Wash the area immediately with soap and water and seek medical advice right away.
