Submitted by Dr. Roy Morton, Vice President, Medicine

Dr. Peter Blair has given notice of his plan to retire from his Fraser Health career at the end of January 2020.

Dr. Blair Joined the medical staff at Royal Columbian Hospital in 1988 as a General Surgeon.  He acted as Program Medical Director for the Surgery Program from 2010 – 2015.

Over the years, Peter has initiated a number of quality projects across Fraser health including Surgical Briefing and the Surgical Safety Checklist.

Most recently, he has been Executive Medical Director – Medical Affairs since 2015.  Peter’s accomplishments are numerous and include a formalized search and selections process for physicians and the development of a firm locum policy.  Both projects have been adopted by other health authorities across the province.

After leaving Fraser Health, Dr. Blair will continue to assist the College of Physicians and Surgeons with part-time quality reviews. More information will be forthcoming in the early new  year.

For now, please join me in congratulating Dr. Blair on his decision and the next phase of his career.
