This week's high fives go out to our incredible people at Langley Memorial, Ridge Meadows, Peace Arch hospitals, the Eagle Ridge Hospital asthma clinic and the Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre.
My 94-year-old mother went to Langley Memorial Hospital Emergency on June 25. I want to thank the nurses and doctor who were very kind to us, in spite of it being so very busy. A kind word goes a long way.
I would like to high five Dr. John Diggle. He is an amazing neurologist but what makes him extra special is the time and effort he goes to, listening to his patients to ensure they feel heard. There were multiple examples where he went the extra mile to find medications out of financial reach for a patient. Dr. Diggle is a Fraser Health hero.
I had an accident last October and spent two-and-a-half weeks in Ridge Meadows Hospital with a ruptured Achilles tendon and broken humerus bone, both on my right side. I was three months in wheelchair, and just now was released from rehab. I wanted to compliment your hospital for the amazing care provided to me, especially from Dr. Kim, Ian in physiotherapy and that whole department. I tell anyone about your hospital as I am grateful.
I saw Eric at your Eagle Ridge Hospital Asthma clinic, and was impressed with his knowledge and people skills. Thank you for designing and running this program.
Paulina and Dalia of the COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder) team at Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre were very helpful. It was critical to me to have oxygen available when exercising. I received information regarding my COPD and the available medicines and learnt how to control my breathing when short of breath. I hope I have increased my strength and flexibility also. Meeting with others who have COPD was good.
On June 28, I was fortunate to be sent to the Peace Arch Hospital Healthy Bones Clinic at Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre. Rhonda the physiotherapist was extremely helpful. She had some good suggestions and she gave me exercises that are helpful. Buying walking poles had already made a difference so I can walk. A dietitian discussed my diet and confirmed that I was on the right track in getting enough vitamins and minerals. The doctor reviewed everything and gave me a form to get my hip X-ray, which I have done. I cannot say enough about the staff. I know they can help others.
