Still haven’t had time to get through that reading list of pregnancy books? We’ve got you covered. Register to receive text messages that will guide you through each week of your pregnancy and up to six weeks postpartum.

We want to support you and your family to make evidence-informed decisions to ensure a healthy pregnancy and baby.

SmartMom is a prenatal education program that texts evidence-based messages to guide expectant mothers through each week of pregnancy and up to six weeks postpartum. Messages are tailored to your gestational age and include links to websites, phone numbers and videos on topics such as fetal growth and development, options for screening in pregnancy, and preparation for labour and delivery. All the information is free and from sources you can trust.

SmartMom was developed in partnership by CIHR-funded UBC-affiliated clinician-researchers (Optimal Birth BC), the BC Ministry of Health, Northern Health Authority, First Nations Health Authority, Fraser Health and in consultation with pregnant women, new mothers, clinicians, and public health practitioners. Messages are meant to complement prenatal advice and information provided by health care providers, not to replace it.

How to enroll for SmartMom

  1. Fraser Health’s online prenatal registration form. You will have an option to sign up for SmartMom text messages. (If you’ve already completed this form, please do not re-register).
  2. Or text “FRASER” to 12323 to start the enrollment process.

With SmartMom in your pocket, you’ll have an information guide, a prenatal cheerleader, and a record of topics you might want to discuss with your health care provider.
