High five

This week's high fives go to our amazing people at Royal Columbian, Langley Memorial and Surrey Memorial Hospitals. And to our staff at the Surrey Urgent Primary Care Centre and Surrey Memorial Hospital Urgent Care Response Centre.

For Royal Columbian Hospital

I was admitted to the Emergency at Royal Columbian Hospital and was looked after well. Dr. Chen saw me and prescribed medications for my issue. She was not able to leave me a card because of the pandemic. I was able to get in touch with her and she called me back to explain the medication to me.

Thanks again to the staff in Emergency.

I am sending this note to thank the staff who treated our mom in the trauma [unit] at Royal Columbian Hospital.

She had a bad fall and she wanted to personally thank all the nurses and doctors for the care she was given. Everyone was friendly and professional. [Mom] wanted to extend an extra thank you to Donna for the warm blankets while she was waiting to leave.

For Langley Memorial Hospital

I am writing to express my gratitude to the nursing and administrative staff of the Pediatric Unit at Langley Memorial Hospital, where I was a patient for a number of days in May and June.

I felt like part of the family during my stay. Their ability to make you feel welcome and cared for is unsurpassed. Whether I needed to discuss my condition or just needed someone to talk to, a staff member always made time for my concerns.

Langley Memorial Hospital should be proud of this unit and those who work there. It is a fine example of how a hospital unit should run.

I would like to pass on large virtual hugs to the nurses and staff on 4 South (especially Erica) for the care and support they provided me. It is nice to be home, but with the care I was receiving, I could have stayed for another day or two. Thank you!

For Surrey Urgent Primary Care Centre

Your nurse Moo at the Surrey Whalley Urgent Primary Care Centre is simply a wonderful person. In fact, the whole testing program is first class. Thanks for all you do!

For Surrey Memorial Hospital

I visited the Emergency Department at Surrey Memorial Hospital last week.

Yesterday, I got a surprise call from Dr. Chayne asking how I was doing…I know how busy doctors are but Dr. Chayne still found a time to call me. I really appreciate what he did.

Thank you, Dr. Chayne.

Thank you to Janette Walters, unit clerk, Neurology Program.

Janette is so caring about her colleagues and our patients, and when she is completing orders written from the doctors or other Allied Health orders. Our unit was converted to accommodate all the presumptive COVID patients and she [is] often the unit clerk for the ‘pods’ that care for these patients. She shows up to work with a beautiful smile and attitude…we are blessed to have her choosing to work on our unit at Surrey Memorial Hospital.

Surrey Memorial Hospital, Urgent Care Response Centre

Thank you to Wendy Baak, clinical nurse educator at the Urgent Care Response Centre at Surrey Memorial Hospital. After one year of tireless work to [implement] training and education programs at the Urgent Care Response Centre (UCRC) at Surrey Memorial Hospital, our dearest clinical nurse educator is leaving. Her dedication, compassion and warm smile has touched many of our staff and patients over the past year.

Wendy, thank you for all your work and the time you put in to support your colleagues. Your work was essential for the UCRC being so successful. We will miss you very much and hope to continue to collaborate with you at the Surrey/Delta Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team.
