“I have a responsibility to keep myself safe for my mom, husband and children. Besides home, I have a responsibility towards my community and I personally feel taking the vaccine is one big step that I can do.”

”As nurses, we are in this profession to save lives. That is why I chose this profession. It’s the core of what I do every day. And to do that, I have to be healthy and safe myself, first. It starts with me.

I also have a social and moral responsibility. I have a responsibility to keep myself safe for my family; my mom, my husband and my children. Besides home, I have a responsibility towards my community.

I’m in that phase of my life where I can travel and take some time to explore the world. In May 2020, we were supposed to go, for the first time in our lives, to Europe with our close family friends of over 25 years – and that got cancelled because of the pandemic. I was also supposed to meet up with a friend in the United States who I did undergrad nursing with back home in India. That too had to be put on hold. Both these trips have been my dream for a long time. I value relationships and realize life is short, so meaningful memories are important to be made. I personally feel taking the vaccine is one big step that I can do to realize my dream.

If you look at all the other pandemics or communicable diseases we’ve had in the past, vaccine was one of the best ways of mitigating them. Considering the global pandemic situation we are in currently, I felt very fortunate to have the vaccine.”

Why vaccinate? We all have our reasons.
