Statement from Fraser Health regarding the transfer of patients from the Northwest Territories to Lower Mainland hospitals.
The Northwest Territories has declared a Territorial State of Emergency due to wildfires and an evacuation order is in place for the City of Yellowknife, including Stanton Territorial Hospital.
At 12:13 a.m. on August 19, patients from the Northwest Territories arrived in British Columbia via Royal Canadian Air Force medical evacuation. In partnership with Health Emergency Management BC, Fraser Health, Vancouver Coastal Health, Provincial Health Services Authority and Providence Health Care will care for patients from the Northwest Territories. We are grateful for the collaboration with our partners in supporting our neighbours from the Northwest Territories, resulting in their safe arrival in B.C.
