Operation Popcorn returned last week as BC Transplant volunteers visited hospitals to thank the teams who help make organ donation possible.

Transplant recipients, living donors and donor families delivered more than 5,000 festive popcorn packages to Intensive Care Units, Emergency Departments and Operating Rooms across the province, including eight Fraser Health hospitals.

Between December 1-5, over 75 volunteers dropped off popcorn and shared their stories with care teams offering a meaningful reminder of the lives they’ve touched and the important role they play throughout the donation and transplant journey.

Through a new partnership between BC Transplant and the Canada Revenue Agency, more than 14,500 British Columbians registered their decision to be an organ donor over the past month.
