Support services teams will be moving into the new Jim Pattison Acute Care Tower on July 16, 2025 in order to begin operations on July 17.

What's happening?

Royal Columbian Hospital support services teams will move into the new Jim Pattison Acute Care Tower on July 16, 2025 and begin operations on July 17.

The first teams moving in include Housekeeping, In-Hospital Replenishment, Laboratory, Security, Waste Management and Laundry and Linen. Facilities Maintenance and Operations teams are moving in over a period of a few weeks.

There is no public access to the new tower until it opens for patients in early 2026.

Impacts to you:

  • You may notice some move activity in the basement of the hospital on July 16.
  • You will start to see the doors and hallways that connect the hospital to the Jim Pattison Acute Care Tower being opened.
  • There will be no impacts on patient care during the support services move.
  • The new Jim Pattison Acute Care Tower will modernize Royal Columbian Hospital, increase the hospital’s capacity and improve timely access to quality patient care. Visit our website for more information.
