This two-day event gathered over 200 community members, health researchers, and health providers to explore the decolonization of health research in the Fraser Salish region.

Keynote sessions by Dr. Charlotte Lopie (Director of University of Victoria’s Centre for Indigenous Research and Community-led Engagement) and Harlan Pruden (Knowledge Translation Lead at Chee Mamuk (BCCDC) and co-founder of the Two-Spirit Dry Lab) explored Indigenous ways of knowledge and using strengths-based approaches to explore ideas that are meaningful to the community. Breakout sessions explored the importance of a two-eyed seeing approach, digital storytelling, allyship in research, and highlighted exemplary demonstrations of the commitment to decolonizing research in the region.

The recorded sessions of the Fraser-Salish Indigenous Health Research Symposium (held June 3-4, 2021) are now available for viewing here.
