We monitor recreational facilities and public beaches to ensure your safety.

Beaches

Public beaches are inspected for visible hazards and sources of contamination. If water samples exceeds the safety limit, our beach operators will post warning signs that the water does not meet health standards for swimming or wading. This is because there is a higher risk of acquiring an infection above this level of contamination.

Recreational pools

Swimming pools, hot tubs and similar recreational water facilities are inspected to ensure compliance with the Pool Regulation. Our environmental health officers verify that facilities are meeting standard safety practices to reduce the risks of injuries and the spread of diseases.

We do not inspect or monitor private residential pools. In general, hazard ratings are assigned based on an assessment of violations or conditions noted at the time of inspection.

Inspection reports for recreational water facilities

Recreational water facilities include public beaches, swimming pools, hot tubs, wading pools and water parks.

Violation tickets

Environmental health officers and tobacco enforcement officers complete routine, follow-up and complaint inspections. This helps to ensure that facilities are in compliance with the applicable public health legislation.

Officers have a variety of tools at their discretion which include but are not limited to education, violation tickets, orders and court action. Note that violation tickets issued to private individuals may not be displayed.

Please note that the offenses listed here are current as of the date at the bottom of each page. Violation tickets will be updated at the beginning of each month.

Also note that violation tickets can be disputed in court. In the case where the operator has been successful in disputing the violation ticket, the ticket will be removed on the next update.

Currently there are no violation tickets issued under this section.
