SURREY – Fraser Health is pleased to announce that Kareem Allam has been appointed to its Board of Directors by the Province of British Columbia.

Kareem is the vice president of corporate development at Monark Group, a private equity firm based in Surrey. Previously, he was the director of strategic initiatives for Civeo, an NYSE-listed workforce logistics and construction company serving the resource sector in Canada, the United States and Australia.

Prior to joining Civeo, Kareem supported public policy development and public engagement with communities, government, and First Nations on large capital projects for TransCanada Pipelines, Britco, the Vancouver Board of Trade, and Fortis BC.

“Kareem’s extensive background in collaborating with multiple stakeholders to deliver results will be of tremendous benefit to him in his new role on the Fraser Health Board of Directors as they continue their pursuit of sustainable, cost-effective and quality patient care,” said Health Minister Terry Lake.

“We are very pleased to welcome Kareem Allam to the Fraser Health Board of Directors and we look forward to his contributions as we endeavor to provide the best care to patients in our region,” said Karen Matty, Chair of the Board of Directors. “Kareem’s skill set will complement our ongoing efforts to provide the most appropriate health services to our patients, where and when they are needed.”

Fraser Health is aligned with the Ministry of Health’s vision of putting patients and families at the centre of care. The health authority is committed to ensuring that people are receiving the right health service in the right place and to improving experiences and outcomes for patients.

The Board of Directors consists of eight directors appointed by the Minister of Health to provide governance and vision for Fraser Health. It works with management to establish overall strategic direction, reviews long-term plans, and ensures appropriate community consultation.
