"I’m from a family of three boys – poor Mama. My Dad works in medical device reprocessing (MDR) at Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre. He gave me guidance, so when I graduated Fleetwood Park in 2011 I went into MDR at St. Paul’s and Mount St. Joseph Hospitals. I don’t interact with patients, but I still get the feeling of doing something good.
We’re the right hand of the Operating Room. We disinfect all surgical instruments, sterilize and organize them. It’s crucial to do it right or it can cause infections. I worked in a hospital in Australia before I joined Peace Arch in 2018. Everyone helps each other: I have amazing co-workers and in a small hospital, everyone’s personally connected.
I train in jujitsu and parallel that to my life: you can’t learn everything, it’s just a matter of growing. It’s not just physical: it’s a mind game, like chess. I like charcoal drawing and cooking Italian with my girlfriend – she’s a chef; I wanted to be one as a kid – it’s our passion. I recently lost my uncle and a co-worker: it reminds me to live to the fullest because you never know."
