I’m deeply grateful to Lia from the Chilliwack Mental Health and Substance Use Centre, who supported me as I sought detox help for my partner. Her calm and compassionate guidance helped me feel less alone during a very difficult time. She encouraged me to prioritize the Rapid Access to Addiction Care Clinic for my partner and reminded me that support is available for me, as well. Lia, thank you for your empathy and clarity. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the doctors, nurses and staff who cared for me during my visits to the Emergency Department at Surrey Memorial Hospital. Thank you to Dr. Hans for quickly helping to relieve the pain I was experiencing. I am also deeply grateful to all the nurses, on both day and night shifts, for their compassion, empathy and support throughout my stay. My wife suffered a critical illness, including a cardiac arrest. Every health care professional involved in her care, from the firefighters and paramedics to the Emergency Department physician, internal medicine team, and the nurses in the Emergency Department and ICU at Peace Arch Hospital, provided exceptional care. I would like to sincerely thank everyone who cared for my wife with such compassion, professionalism, kindness, patience and respect during an incredibly difficult time. As a physician at Peace Arch Hospital for 46 years, I have a deep appreciation for the dedication and expertise required in health care. Thank you all.
