The competition provides funding for research projects that address real-world healthcare priorities and generate meaningful impact across the health system.
The Fraser Health Research to Results (FHR2) Competition supports priority-aligned research and evidence-informed initiatives that respond to practical health care challenges within the Fraser Health region. Projects are expected to demonstrate meaningful impact within a 24-month funding period.
“This is the first time we've been able to offer dedicated funding through the Fraser Health Research to Results Competition, creating an exciting opportunity to support research that directly addresses the priorities and challenges facing our health system," says Kate Keetch, director, Department of Evaluation and Research Services.
"Fraser Health is already home to exceptional researchers whose work has generated new knowledge, informed practice and improved care for patients and families across our region. We are excited to see what new ideas emerge and how they can help shape the future of care.”
The competition is offered in partnership with Michael Smith Health Research BC, Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation and Surrey Hospitals Foundation.
Funding for research
Two awards of up to $100,000 are available, with one award allocated to each funding stream. Additional awards may be provided should further funding become available.
The Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation Stream supports eligible projects based at Royal Columbian Hospital, Queen's Park Care Centre and associated community-based services.
The Surrey Hospitals Foundation Stream supports eligible projects based at Surrey Memorial Hospital, Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre and associated Surrey-based services and communities.
Research proposals should support one or more priority areas, including:
- Access to timely, coordinated care across the continuum.
- Workforce sustainability and team-based care.
- Quality, safety and person-centered care.
- Healthy aging and care for people with complex health needs.
- Health system efficiency and stewardship.
Letters of Intent are due by October 31, 2026.
Following review, shortlisted teams will be invited to participate in an idea pitch event in January 2027, with final funding decisions expected in March 2027.
