West Shore Laylum is a two-storey publicly funded home.
Our mission is to ensure excellence in the provision of service to our residents. We are dedicated to maintaining a resident-centered home which respects the dignity and worth of our residents, families and friends.
West Shore Laylum is currently redeveloping the Ladner location and is temporarily occupying three neighbourhoods on two floors at Suncrest Retirement Community in South Surrey.
As a long-term care provider, we recognize the rights of individuals to direct their own care in a supported manner, including the right to refuse care. Each resident has the right to expect the best possible care provided by qualified and competent personnel, in the most ethical manner regardless of race, colour, creed, national origin, gender or source of payment for services.
There are 55 publicly subsidized long term care beds, 53 single occupancy rooms and 1 double occupancy room.
Features
Room features and personalization | Each room features a bed, bed side table, and chest of drawers. Linens are provided and laundry is done on-site. Residents may personalize their rooms with a size appropriate chair, chest of drawers, a wall-mounted television and pictures. Families can add decorative touches such as curtains and matching bedding. A small damage deposit is required to repaint a room. |
Accessibility | There is elevator access to the third and fourth floor neighbourhoods. Elevators are key coded. The outdoor garden is wheelchair accessible but residents must be accompanied. Visitor access is via the parking garage. |
Security | West Shore Laylum is fitted with key padded doors and video monitoring for security. |
Smoking | Smoking is not permitted on premise or property. |
Location information | The home is located on King George Blvd in South Surrey (cross street is 152 Street), and is easily accessed by car or transit. |
Additional site features | West Shore Laylum is temporarily leasing space in a newly constructed licensed long term care home that also Long Term Care, Assisted Living and Independent Living. |
Parking and transportation | Underground parking is available and BC Transit is readily accessible. |
Programs
Social and recreation programs | A wide variety of recreational programs are offered daily along with individual one-on-one visits. Entertainers visit the home monthly. There is an active walking program under the direction of a physiotherapist and dedicated mobility aide. |
Spiritual program | While the home is non-denominational, pastoral visits are frequent. Visits from a resident’s own clergy are encouraged. |
Pets | Pet therapy is available once per week as well as at special events. Family members are encouraged to bring in their pets. |
Medical assistance in dying | On-site assessment and on-site provision available. |
Additional services
Hairdressing | Weekly hairdressing services are available for a fee. |
Foot and nail care | Foot care services are offered on a regular basis for a fee. |
Additional services | A dentist is available for site visits and on-site eye exams can be arranged for a fee. All residents are assessed by a physiotherapist at the time of admission. Additional physiotherapy services and occupational therapy services are available for a fee from the service provider. |

Referral by case manager at a Home and Community Care office is required. To access service call the Home Health Service Line for more information; do not contact the care home directly.
Fees
There is a monthly accommodation fee; additional fees may apply for incidental services.
