Philosophy of care

Willingdon Care Centre is a leading provider of high quality housing and complex residential care services. We anticipate and respond to the changing needs of the persons we service.

Our philosophy is to strive for excellence in resident-centered and directed care. In addition to the requisite knowledge and skills for working in complex care or assisted living, we value respect, flexibility, humour, creativity, curiosity and caring in our staff.

Those receiving care:

  • are respected as the key decision makers in their lives to the greatest extent possible.
  • are welcome to have their families, or those they choose to help them, be involved and participate in planning and assisting in their care and any other related activities.
  • have a right to privacy as much as possible.
  • have opportunities to lead creative, active, fulfilling lives and achieve the highest quality of life possible.
  • are free from abuse, exploitation and discrimination.
  • should be able to remain in our care as they grow older and perhaps, more frail.
