“As public health audiologists, we identify hearing loss in children, then provide intervention to support communication. Moments when a baby or child starts looking around for sounds after getting hearing aids are always memorable.”

“I moved to Vancouver from Hong Kong with my family when I was 12. English was my second language and it was challenging: I developed a stutter. It wasn’t a big deal, but when they added phone calls to my email customer support job at eBay, it affected my professional life. So I worked with a Speech Language Pathologist for two years learning strategies to translate my weakness into a strength.

I started exploring becoming an SLP and learned about audiology. Eventually, I earned a Master of Science in Audiology from UBC. I worked with Interior Health, then joined Fraser Health in 2013. As public health audiologists, we identify hearing loss in children, then provide intervention to support communication: fitting, programming and adjusting hearing aids. Moments when a baby or child starts looking around for sounds after getting hearing aids are always memorable.

I live in North Delta with my partner, a betta and two silver flying fox fish: Steven, Sam and Sammy. I cycle and play piano – I started at age five. Lately, I've been playing music from Game of Thrones. I have a degree in media arts and I’m a sushi connoisseur: I’d love to visit Japan and Korea. I also know some sign language: 'yes,' 'okay,' and more importantly, 'thank you.'"
