High five

This week's high fives go to our amazing people at Langley Memorial Hospital, Royal Columbian Hospital and Surrey Memorial Hospital.

For Langley Hospital

I had an operation in surgical daycare with Dr. Jason Archambault.

I would like to compliment and thank everyone I encountered that day, from check-in and pre-operation, to post-operation until my discharge. Everyone was reassuring, friendly and competent. I was apprehensive coming in but was pleased with how everything went and cannot thank you all enough for your awesome care.

Stay safe and thanks again.

I was at Langley Memorial Hospital for about 10 days and have high praise for those who cooked my meals. I’m normally sensitive, but was able to eat everything and even wish I could have more pudding or soup now! Just perfect and the meals were delivered on time.

For Royal Columbian Hospital

I would like to send kudos and a warm thank you to a porter whose first name was Charlotte.

My elderly mother had a procedure at Royal Columbian Hospital and Charlotte could see I was struggling with a walker and wheelchair on the outside of the Main Entrance and she offered to help me. She then guided me to where I needed to take my mom. Upon completing the procedure, I was struggling with the equipment and she recognized us and helped us to the front entrance.

During the time of COVID-19, the calm and kind approach of this porter made our hospital visit pleasant.

The staff nurse and physician in Minor Operation Room were also kind, professional and gentle with my mom.

A big thank you to all staff.

I would like to pass on large virtual hugs to the nurses and staff on 4 South (especially Erica) for the care and support they provided me. It is nice to be home, but with the care I was receiving, I could have stayed for another day or two. Thank you!

For Surrey Memorial Hospital

All your staff were friendly and helpful to me during my time at your facility.

Your staff member asked if she could help me and then not only told me where to find the surgical admissions desk but actually led me down a flight of stairs along the way. Now that is service!

I was made comfortable during pre-operation, in part, by explaining why they were performing each task on me before they actually did it. The anesthesiologist introduced himself and helped ensure my safety during the operation. He was very friendly and had a great sense of humor, which helped to ease my nerves before they wheeled me into the Operation Room. Dr. Zack made me feel quite safe before starting my operation.

The staff again was very friendly and helpful in post-operation care.

My wife has some issues in walking long distances, so one of the post-operation staff cheerfully volunteered to accompany me down to meet my wife in her car outside the hospital doors.

In summation, a great visit thanks to a fantastic staff!!
