Registered Nurse, Abbotsford Regional Hospital

“Seeing how these health care providers have responded to COVID-19 has been inspiring. Their kindness, passion and dedication to caring for others has set an incredible example for the type of nurse I would like to be. I feel so honoured to be part of the Maternal, Infant, Child and Youth team at Abbotsford Regional Hospital.”

“I have been a registered nurse on the Pediatric Unit at Abbotsford Regional Hospital for less than one year. When the pandemic started, there was a general feeling of uneasiness. Among the staff challenges were the ‘unknowns’ – who or how many people would get sick? How long would COVID-19 last? How would we adjust to our new normal? The community really came together and supported us. Painted stones leading up to our staff entrance, posters, the seven p.m. cheer and food donations are just a few ways the community motivated and encouraged us. To say thank you, the health care providers from the pediatric, maternity and NICU units wanted to give back to the community. We decided to raise money for the food bank. A local Abbotsford company offered to match our donation and before we knew it, our team and Art’s Custom Woodcrafting raised a total of $4,450 for the Abbotsford Food Bank.
