We believe that hearing directly from you, and the people who support you (essential care partners), is the best way to improve our care and services.
With this in mind, we have developed a survey to get your feedback. The survey questions were written together by patient partners and health care professionals.
When you use our health care services, we invite you to complete a survey. You will find a link to the survey on posters in the place you receive care. The survey only takes a few minutes.
The feedback we get from the surveys is used to improve the care we provide, and the experiences of those who receive it.
We are listening
Based on what people told us in the survey, Food and Dietitian Services has made the following improvements:
Halal Meals
Food helps your body heal. Food also provides comfort. It is important that people can continue their dietary practices while they are in the hospital. Halal food is an important part of the Muslim culture. In the survey, people said they wanted halal food while in hospital. We now offer halal meals at Langley Memorial Hospital and Surrey Memorial Hospital. We are proud to support the overall health and well-being of our Muslim community.
Choice Dining
Responses to the survey told us that patients wanted a choice in what they ate. We listened. Many of our hospitals now have a Choice Dining program, which includes an app that allows patients to order their meals. Patients who are unable to use the app are visited by one of our staff who asks about their food choices for the next day.
Since we brought in Choice Dining, feedback shows us that patients are enjoying their meals more. And we are pleased to see that less food is being wasted. Learn more.
Meals in the Emergency Department at Surrey Memorial Hospital
Visits to the Emergency Department can take longer than expected. It is not unusual for patients to be there during mealtimes. In the past, we offered patients sandwiches or other food items from the fridge.
Staff told us that patients really wanted hot meals. We are now pleased to offer hot lunch and dinner meals to patients admitted into the Emergency Department at Surrey Memorial Hospital.
Survey responses tell us that the hot meals have improved people’s overall experience in the Emergency Department.
- Please note: Some patients cannot have food, for medical reasons. Please check with the nurse first.
