Why you might not WANT to get mumps
Mumps can cause very painful swelling of many different parts of your body, including your salivary glands, testicles, ovaries, pancreas, thyroid, and breasts. Even though swelling from mumps really hurts, usually people with mumps do not have to spend any time in hospital. However, some people may get really sick with mumps which can cause some permanent complications. For example, testicles that swell up because of mumps can shrink permanently afterwards.
