This $35 million project is building a new emergency and lab building and renovating the existing ambulatory care facility at Chilliwack General Hospital. This project will modernize and improve the physical environments in the emergency department and ambulatory care areas.

When complete this project will help Fraser Health meet the growing healthcare needs of Chilliwack and neighbouring communities. The new facilities will:

• Incorporate best practices designed to improve service and flow through - providing residents with faster and increased access to care
• Enhance safety and increase the overall quality of care while improving patient & staff satisfaction
• Provide the hospital with the space needed for future capacity growth and technological advances
• Be designed with ‘elder friendly’ principles in mind – neutral colours and highly visible signage will improve wayfinding & textured non-slip flooring will enhance safety

This project will be complete in winter 2010/2011.
